Birdie Collection
This collection, created in Mhodzi's ateliers, began with the use of a soft and plush fabric, a flannel, which immediately brings a sense of comfort.
A fabric where designs of small robins, pine cones and pine needles became the inspiration. During the creative process, the idea of exploring the natural overlapping of bird feathers represented in the fabric came up.
Before the experimental process began, this fabric, mostly white, sourced from surplus factories in northern Portugal, was also dyed with coffee grounds to harmonize all the colors.
Thus, small stylized feathers were created from the flannel, carefully hand-sewn, and small pieces of recycled porcelain were added, which together brought to life the pieces of this collection.
